About Love is Greater Photography:

Hello, Love is Greater Photography is owned and operated by me, Joshua White. This is the blog... it will contain all the latest and greatest from our recent shoots, as well as anything else I feel like writing on any given day. Thank you for visiting.

Some random tidbits of information about me: Married since 2004 to my amazing wife. Born in 1981, living in Toledo, Ohio. Have a rad little girl who was born in August of 2010. My favorite things in life are family, friends, doing life with both, love, creativity, authenticity, hope, music, and being a coffee / food / beer / wine snob.

  • I'm starting to get the shakes. I need to do a photo shoot, and soon. Who wants some photos taken? haha… no, but really.

    Katelyn & Rich // Epics

    Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

This was the very first engagement session I was unable to shoot with Gregg because of me living in New Mexico now. I’m happy to report that things worked out regardless! Katelyn and Rich contacted us a while back about shooting their wedding, and even though I have yet to meet them in person, I am ridiculously excited. Their personalities just bleed through these photos, and they are totally my kind of people! I am super excited to be working with another local Toledo photographer, Lori Hug, for their wedding as well. These photos were all shot by Gregg and Lori, and edited by me. Here are a few of my favorites!

    Let’s Make a Difference, Together

    Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

I’ve kept it no secret that Love is Greater Photography is inexplicably intertwined with the She Dances campaign. Ever since the non-profit dedicated to seeing freedom and restoration come into the lives of victims of human trafficking started, I’ve been drawn to their heart and vision. I’m honored to be a part of it, and from the few phone and email conversations I’ve had with the organization’s founders I can tell you first hand that these people bleed for this. I’m humbled to have seen them start at the ground level, and I’m proud to see where they’re at today and what they’re attempting to do.

The truth is, a non-profit is only as successful as we, the people, will allow them to be. I know I have a burden in my heart the size of Texas to be a difference maker in this world. I know at times I feel as if just giving 10% of all profits of LGP isn’t enough, and that I need to be doing more. Sometimes it feels like just sending some money is the easy way, I know I at least personally long for getting in the game, getting my hands dirty and making a tangible difference with more than just my finances. But, all those things said… money is crazy-important.

Today, She Dances is launching the 200/20 campaign. The idea is simple; 200 people donating $20 a month keeps a safe house for victims of the sex trade in Honduras open, running, and CHANGING lives. I’ve embedded a video below for the campaign that will better explain what it’s all about. Honestly, with the reach so many of us have through our blogs and twitter, I would be shocked if we can’t shatter the goal of finding two hundred people to commit to donating a measly $20 a month, but I digress. Today I find myself convicted, and I for one will lock arms with this amazing organization one more time and get in the game. I am sincerely hoping and praying that at least a few of you will join me.

Please, join me and help leave this world a better place than we left it.

    #50pic III // The Aftermath

    Monday, May 10th, 2010

It’s amazing what we’ll find ourselves doing when we’re out on an adventure and we just open ourselves up to the possibility of the unexpected. I set out on Friday with the best of intentions. My plan was to take a mini-road trip down historic Route 66, as I figured there would be more than ample opportunity to fill up my #50pic quota. What happened was completely different though. Instead of stopping to take pictures, I just kept driving. My inner-monologue was on overdrive and the entire day turned out to be one epic therapeutic drive that I’ve needed for a long time.

Needless to say, I didn’t achieve the goal on Friday. I tried to make it up on Saturday, but even then with how much is going on in my life right now, (not so much physically busy, just mentally my mind is in a million different places) I still only managed to get to thirty before calling it quits.

But man, did you all knock it out of the park! Me taking pictures is only a small amount of the fun of #50pic. I get way more joy out of watching all your photos come in. For some of you, you set it out to find some super creative photos, others of you just take us all on a photo journey throughout your day. I love seeing both! So this time I decided to do things a little different and collect some photos from people who participated in #50pic, and am posting a collection of them here. Thanks again to all of you for taking part in this! I look forward to the next one!

Just a warning, this is not the prettiest formatted post ever =). And if you took part in #50pic and would like to see one of your photos in this post, email it to 50pic@loveisgreaterphoto.com along with a link you’d like the photo credited to with your name (ie – your twitter/facebook/blog).

    The #50pic Challenge III

    Monday, May 3rd, 2010

One of my favorite pictures from the last #50pic.

    What is #50pic?
It’s an idea. It’s a fun way to spend a day, and (possibly) stretch your creativity a little. The idea was born from a blog post written by photographer Chase Jarvis, where he challenged photographers to take a day and just shoot for yourself. It started as #100pic, but after the first one, I realized that 100 was a bit too many for most people, especially the casual participants. So now, it is simply go through your day with whatever camera you have, take fifty pictures (no more, no less), edit them however you desire (or not at all), and share them for the world to see. It doesn’t matter if you’re using the most expensive DSLR made, a point and shoot, or the camera on your phone.

    Who should participate in #50pic?
Anyone! Admittedly the idea was started for photographers and creatives, but I really believe it’s a good opportunity for anyone to take a little time, and appreciate the world around them. And, when you share the photos, it becomes a good opportunity for people to get to know you better!

    When is #50pic III?
Friday, May 7th. All photos must be taken before midnight, whatever time zone you’re in. You can post them sometime over the weekend.

How do you participate in #50pic?
Well first, I’d discourage anyone from posting ALL fifty pics to their twitter… I promise you’ll lose some followers if you do =). I will not be one of them, but I’m just giving you fair warning as it’s happened to me =). If you’re on twitter, simply upload whichever photos you immediately want to share using the hashtag #50pic. If you’re on facebook, flickr, or writing a blog post, just make a gallery called #50pic III.

Finally, I’d ask that you all spread the word! Feel free to link back to this post, or copy it verbatim and put it on your own blogs and call it your own idea =), I frankly don’t care about taking credit. I really look forward to seeing everyone’s photos!!!
