About Love is Greater Photography:

Hello, Love is Greater Photography is owned and operated by me, Joshua White. This is the blog... it will contain all the latest and greatest from our recent shoots, as well as anything else I feel like writing on any given day. Thank you for visiting.

Some random tidbits of information about me: Married since 2004 to my amazing wife. Born in 1981, living in Toledo, Ohio. Have a rad little girl who was born in August of 2010. My favorite things in life are family, friends, doing life with both, love, creativity, authenticity, hope, music, and being a coffee / food / beer / wine snob.

  • I'm starting to get the shakes. I need to do a photo shoot, and soon. Who wants some photos taken? haha… no, but really.

    Aimee & Foo // Wedding

    Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Foo first contacted me in January, and I have to say it was a nice surprise. Foo and Aimee live in LA, and had met a couple Gregg and I did engagement pictures for in Ann Arbor (Michigan) in 2009 but also live in LA, who recommended LGP. From the first few conversations with Foo I knew it would be a great fit for both of us. He and Aimee both sounded like a riot, and are definitely the kind of people Gregg and I love to work with!

So when the wedding day finally arrived in May, I was pumped to finally get to spend some time with them. Our time together started the day before the wedding when I met Foo and Aimee for the first time to take some formal pictures of them in traditional Korean and Vietnamese wedding outfits! Total win for me =). Then, during the reception I was witness to one of the greatest first dances I’ve ever seen… a full-on choreographed number set to a mash-up of songs that included “My Heart Will Go On” and “Poker Face” =). I included a video from that dance below the break for your enjoyment =).

Here is just a small sample of images (and a video) from their day

    Helen & Jesse // ePics

    Monday, June 28th, 2010

While in Oregon for Jenni and Brian’s vow renewal ceremony, I had the great pleasure of meeting, hanging out with, and taking engagement photos for Jenni’s sister Helen and her fiancé Jesse. It was a rough weekend trying to get the shoot in, as Mother Nature seemed like it would not be cooperating. We were originally supposed to shoot Saturday morning, but we got rained out. Then when I woke up Sunday morning and saw it was raining again, I was nearly positive it just wasn’t going to happen. Alas, a break in the rain finally came and we got their shoot in.

Helen and Jesse are two of the funniest people I’ve met in a long time, and I had an absolute blast getting to know and photograph them. Here are just a few of my favorites from their shoot.

Jenni & Brian // Vow Renewals

    Sunday, June 13th, 2010

    I mean…

    Really…

What else can I possibly say at this point? Jenni & Brian may be one of the greatest stories of grace, love, hope, and redemption I’ve ever seen first hand. Saying I feel “blessed” to call them friends, would be the understatement of the millennium. I’ve linked to the story above, and if you get a moment you really should read it. It’s a testimony to what I’m all about… love is truly greater than anything. These two proved it.

So, when they asked me to come out to the Oregon coast, Lincoln City to be exact, to shoot their vow renewal ceremony it wasn’t even a question for me. The single word “yes” email may have been the fastest response to an email anyone has ever received. I had the time of my life, enjoying the community of amazing friends and seeing such an amazing life story being played out before my eyes. I had to pinch myself on more than one occasion for more than one reason: 1) I’m not dreaming, this is real B) I’m the photographer, stop basking in the moment and start taking pictures!

So here are just a very small few of my favorite pictures from the day. We shot the ceremony and reception inside of a beach house, so there were certainly some challenges I am not used to, but honestly none of that matters. Perhaps more than any other shoot I’ve ever done, the story here matters the most. (ps – yes, they read their vows off their individual iphones =))

    Diane & David // Beloved

    Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I honestly don’t know where to start with David and Diane. I first met them through twitter (surprise surprise) a year or so ago, and I have to be honest I never really thought we’d connect face to face. The reason? They live (lived) in Australia. Now, they live in Ireland. However, they were in Oregon for the same reason I was a month ago, to be a part of a vow renewal ceremony for mutual friends. So, with us all in the same state, they asked for a Beloved photo session and I was more than honored to oblige.

We had an amazing Sunday morning, in an amazing location to work with, and I’m so very happy with how their pictures turned out. These two love each other a whole lot, and it’s blindingly apparent to me how much fun they have together. They’re officially some of my favorite people on this planet, and I sincerely love them.

Here are some of my favorite images from their shoot..
