So about three months ago Gregg and I first started talking about what LGP might look like in the next one, two, three, five years. We love what we do, and want to continue to do it, but we also want to continue to build into the next generation. We both love to teach, and we figured that a good way to meld company growth with an authentic desire to build into someone would be to bring on an intern for the 2011 season. Gregg and I are very close friends, and LGP is as much a brainchild of Gregg’s as it is mine, so we wanted to be very careful of who we would be essentially sharing such an important part of our lives with.
Enter Aubrey.
From her first email stating her interest in the position, Gregg and I both believed she was as strong of a contender for the position as we would get. When we sat down with her on Sunday over some coffee at Starbucks, we were blown away by her good attitude, willingness to learn, and endearing personality. My exact words to Gregg before leaving Starbucks after our interviews were over was “So, I know it’s a no-brainer and all, but we’re in agreement… it’s Aubrey.” That’s not to say we didn’t’ get other very good applicants, Aubrey just had that special something that we didn’t even realize we were looking for.
Aubrey lives in Adrian, so her commitment is already noted by an hour drive each way every time she comes down to Toledo. Plus she already has one part time job and is in her senior year of High School right now. Plus, she wants to work with Gregg and I, a clear sign of a good head on her shoulders
.
So, all that to say please welcome Aubrey to the LGP team. We are honored to have her and are looking forward to an amazing 2011. Now, we just have to get her to try (and like) sushi… =)
